St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran School
General Information

MISSION STATEMENT

St. Peter’s Lutheran Day School works in partnership with Christian parents to train children for today, for tomorrow, and for eternity by first providing spiritual instruction interwoven with quality secular education that encourages children to continually grow in faith and become lifelong, independent learners.

PURPOSE / PHILOSOPHY

The inspired author Solomon wrote in Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

St. Peter’s Lutheran Day School does not exist in opposition to the public school system.  Rather, St. Peter’s exists because it can provide what the public schools by their very nature cannot.  St. Peter’s Lutheran Day School (heretofore SPLDS) was established by its parent congregation in 1947 to assist families in training their children to be disciples of Jesus Christ, and to live in service to him.  It is the goal of SPLDS to provide quality secular instruction within the doctrinal premises of God’s holy Word.

Attending SPLDS is a privilege, not a right.  God has blessed St. Peter’s congregation with the resources, facility, and staff to support Christian education.  It is implicit that staff, parents, and students work together in love for the mutual benefit of these children and the kingdom of Jesus Christ.

PARENT INFORMATION COURSE

It is important for you to know what your child will be taught religiously.  Your child will be taught the doctrines of Holy Scripture as confessed and practiced by the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS).  Parents of children who are active members of another church body will be encouraged to attend an information course for the purpose of informing them of the teachings of the Evangelical Lutheran Church.

CURRICULUM

The subjects taught in our school are similar to those taught in schools all over America today.  However, the heart of our curriculum is the Word of God, the Holy Bible.

As Christ loved us and died for us, so we also strive to reflect His love in all our education.  Since "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23), we must first of all deal with children as persons whose greatest need is for a Savior.  Thus each child is taught that he/she is redeemed by the precious blood of Christ.

NOTE: The achievement norms of our pupils are consistently higher than standard in each basic skill area.    Pupils at St. Peter’s Lutheran School do receive a superior academic, as well as spiritual training, and any pupil having satisfactorily completed the course of study at St. Peter’s is well prepared to continue his/her education and be readily accepted at any high school.  History has shown that graduates of St. Peter’s have excelled in high school, a high percentage of them making the honor roll.

More information on this support group is available from the school office.

Room Parents

LUNCH POLICY

Students are required to bring their own lunch including beverage.  Our Home & School Group makes arrangements twice a week with to provide a lunch.  We currently serve subs from Subway on Monday and pizza on Fridays.  A note is sent home at the beginning of each month for those families who are interested in participating

TRANSPORTATION

Parents are responsible for the transportation of their children to and from school.  Plymouth bus service is available for a minimal fee.  Several of our students each year take advantage of the bus services.  For more information contact the Plymouth School District.

SPECIAL EDUCATION SERVICES

Special services for students with learning difficulties or disabilities are made available at St. Peters’ Lutheran School.   The teachers at St. Peter’s in cooperation with the special education teachers at the Plymouth School District will set up an individualized program for students who qualify.

DRESS CODE

When in class and at all school functions, students of SPLDS are expected to dress neatly and to glorify their Lord through their appearance.  Students are therefore encouraged to “dress up” rather than to “dress down” for class.  Though the responsibility for proper dress lies with parents, SPLDS recognizes the need for guidelines for uniformity of dress during school hours.  Students are to adhere to the Scriptural principle that their bodies are the temples of the Lord, and should thus be kept neat and healthy.
