Our preschool programs are based on active learning.  Activities and experiences are planned to enhance a child’s development in the following areas:

Spiritual Growth - Knowing their Savior, Jesus Christ

Social Growth - Interaction with other children and adults

Emotional Growth - Understanding and controlling feelings

Physical Growth - Development of fine and large motor skills

Cognitive Growth - Development in reading readiness, math concepts and problem solving


Philosophy and Curriculum
St. Peter’s Lutheran Preschool takes seriously its obligation to teach and train children in accordance with the Savior's command: "Train a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not turn from it." (Proverbs 22:6)  Our curriculum revolves around play-based active learning and is designed to foster spiritual, social, emotional, physical and cognitive growth.
Enrollment Policy
St. Peter’s Lutheran Preschool offers classes to childeren who are three or four years old.  Students the 3-year-old class must turn three before or within the quarter they start school.  Students in the 4-year-old class must be four by December 1st of the school year.  All children must be fully potty trained and able to handle their own bathroom needs.  St. Peter's does not discriminate on the basis of color, religious belief, family background or other criteria.
Schedule
The Preschool follows the schedule of St. Peter’s Lutheran School (K-8).  School begins in early September and concludes in May.  Sessions are 8:30-11:30 AM.  No afternoon sessions are currently offered.  Four year olds attend Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  Three year olds attend Tuesday and Thursday.
Volunteers
Parents are welcome to help in the classroom.  It gives them an opportunity to become acquainted with their children’s learning experiences and their daily routine.
State License
St. Peter’s Lutheran preschool is licensed by the State of Michigan.  All staff members have completed background checks.  All staff are active members of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) and approved by St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and School Board of Education and the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Council.

2010-2011 Tuition and Fees

Costs are based at:
  • $45 registration fee.
  • $16 per session for St. Peter's members.
  • $19 per session for non-members.

Quarter I (Sep. 7 - Nov. 5) - 17 sessions. Cost:  $272 member  $323 non-member
Quarter II (Nov. 8 - Jan. 21) - 18 sessions. Cost:  $288 member  $342 non-member
Quarter III (Jan. 24 - Mar. 25) - 18 sessions. Cost:  $288 member  $342 non-member
Quarter IV (Mar. 28- May 25) - 15 sessions. Cost:  $240 member  $285 non-member
Payment Dates:  Quarter I - August 26
Quarter II - November 2
Quarter III - January 18
Quarter IV - March 22
Total for the year (68 sessions):  $1088 member
 $1292 non-member
